In depth

The Town of Moriah encompasses the distinctive hamlets of Witherbee, Moriah Center, Moriah Corners, Mineville, and the former village of Port Henry.

Port Henry is affectionately known as the “San Francisco of the Adirondacks,” as it sits on a hill overlooking the Lake Champlain Bridge and Bullwagga Bay.

It is also the home of “Champ” - the Lake Champlain Monster. Here the community gathers for an annual Champ Day Festival, which offers fun for everyone and even the chance to spot Champ yourself!  Water enthusiasts can enjoy two beaches, two marinas, a NYS boat launch and a fishing pier. Climb the Cheney Mountain Trail or the Belfry Mountain Trail for fabulous vistas over the lake and beyond. Learn about the town’s rich iron ore and mining industry at the Iron Center Museum.
