By land or by sea

Horsemen in vintage uniforms at Fort Ticonderoga.

The historic hamlets of Essex, Keeseville, Westport, Fort Ticonderoga, and Port Henry are lined with interesting historic sites and are a great place for self-guided walking tours. The Crown Point Historic Site and Fort Ticonderoga are key pieces of early American history and provide unique perspectives on the early history of the area. We even have lighthouses, where the story of this large lake and it's own role in shaping the region is celebrated, too.

One for the road

A man and boy play with hula hoops in front of an outdoor stage where a small band performs.

With so much history around, it's no surprise that the area is full of wonderful people who love the area. From innkeepers to chefs to artists operating their own galleries, the area has a lot of creative people, a welcoming atmosphere, and many great stories to tell. Here, there is plenty of fun to be had and great people to encounter.
