Complete the Moriah Challenge and earn a patch!

The Moriah Hiking Challenge is a quartet of Champlain Area Trails (CATS) hikes that lead to rocky summits, a firetower, and a backcountry body of water. Completing the challenge will not only earn you a patch, but connect you with the local community that these hikes are located in.

The four hikes

Hikers must complete all four local Champlain Area Trails (CATS) hikes, which include:

1. Belfry Mountain - A short hike featuring a firetower.

2. Big Hollow/Coot Hill - A small summit with views of Lake Champlain.

3. Cheney Mountain - Viewpoints from a ridge of the High Peaks, historic mine tailings, and Lake Champlain.

4. Crowfoot Pond - A longer hike with bridge crossings, large pine forests, and a backcountry pond

How to get the patch

Anyone who successfully completes the challenge and submits their information will receive a commemorative embroidered patch to celebrate their accomplishment. To claim a patch, hikers should provide the Moriah Chamber of Commerce with the dates the trails were hiked. You can give your information in-person at the address below, or the Chamber can also work with you to send your patch via mail. Check out their site for more information.
