Inspiration abounds

The Lake Champlain Region, with its majestic mountains, scenic lakes, and historic communities, has long been a destination for artists and writers eager to be inspired by the beautiful natural landscape and peaceful solitude. Today, the region is home to bustling arts communities offering galleries, exhibits, Lake Champlain events, festivals, and venues for creative pursuits.

Artistic creativity and historic sites

For an evening of world-class performances with historic charm, the charming Depot Theatre, a restored 1876 train station — and one of the more popular Lake Champlain attractions — plays host to professional artists throughout the year. Meadowmount School of Music, located in Lewis, is a summer school for aspiring professional musicians where music lovers can catch inspiring concerts from students, faculty, and distinguished guests during the summer months.

In the historic town of Essex, a variety of art galleries and shops provide beautiful and intriguing visual arts and crafts. Discover handcrafted goods, antiques, collectibles, and view local artwork. The Heritage House in Westport regularly hosts music and art by local artists, while the Hand House in Elizabethtown often offers concerts and performances highlighting 20th century works.

Throughout all four seasons, there is a wide array of artistic offerings, celebrations, and festivals on the Adirondack Coast of Lake Champlain.
