Meet Ticonderoga

Ticonderoga, Iroquois for “the land between two waters,” sits on the shores of both Lake George and Lake Champlain in the beautiful Adirondacks. The steep, swift La Chute River meanders through the downtown connecting the two bodies of water.

In short, Ticonderoga is a scenic destination for visitors who love lakes, mountains, rich history, arts, cultural opportunities, and outdoor recreation.

Major attractions include Fort Ticonderoga (America’s Fort), Mount Defiance, Hancock House, Ticonderoga Heritage Museum, La Chute River Walk Trail, and Bicentennial Park. Ticonderoga also boasts a public beach on crystal clear Lake George, a golf course in historic Lord Howe Valley, hiking trails with awesome vistas, fishing locations and boat launches on both lakes.

Montcalm Street, through the heart of the hamlet, is dotted with great eateries, art galleries, and specialty shops offering unique finds. To help plan your visit, we’ve put together a guide to the top 10 things to do in Ticonderoga, covering everything from historic sites to local favorites.

Downtown Revitalization Initiative

Ticonderoga will be receiving $10 million in funding from the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). Selected as the North Country town to receive funds, the community is now looking for project submissions. Local organizations and businesses can learn more, including how to apply, online.
