History s'Peaks

Looking for a new adventure that will let you explore the Adirondacks and learn cool things? Get in on the latest challenge! New in 2021, History s'Peaks is an Adirondack museum challenge in the High Peaks region. Visit six local cultural heritage sites, get your museum card stamped, and learn about local history to complete the challenge!

Adirondack History Museum

Sail Adirondacks

Sail Adirondacks is the region’s only crewed sailing experience on a fleet of classic sailboats. With locations in Saranac Lake and Port Henry, Lake Champlain, you will have an opportunity to sail in the heart of the Adirondacks! Captain Barry Brogan is a New York State and U.S. Coast Guard certified charter boat captain with over four decades of sailing experience. Choose from a number of guided charters or Learn to Sail experiences to fit your schedule and your Budget. "Welcome Aboard".

Powerhouse Park

Municipally owned by the Town of Moriah, Powerhouse Park commemorates the Port Henry Powerplant that used to exist on this site, but was demolished in 1971.  This charming park surrounds the mouth of Mill Brook.  It is adjacent to the Port Henry boat launch and Champ Beach Campground and includes the popular Port Henry fishing pier. 

Beggs Park

Beggs Park occupies a lovely point of land where there used to be manufacturing of horseshoe nails and window sashes, since burned down in the early 1900s. Canal boats docked here often, supplying the local industry. Enjoy the fishing pier, town park, and playground that offers great views of the lake and the Essex waterfront.

Westport Heritage House

The Westport Heritage House opens for the 2021 season on June 19. Open 6 days a week through Labor Day; Monday through Saturday 10:00 am until 3:00 pm, Sundays 1:00 - 3:00 pm.  Closed on Tuesdays.(closed Tuesdays)

Featured this year is the Spirit of Place art exhibit on display from July 1 through September 6 which includes a wide collection of work from talented artists of the Champlain Valley. All art is available for purchase and proceeds benefit artists and the Heritage House. 

Ballard Park

A beautiful lakeside park located in the town center of Westport that has a natural, grassy amphitheater overlooking an outdoor performance pavilion that hosts concerts throughout the summer.
