  Are you ready to experience the beauty of nature and boost your confidence in the outdoors? Join CATSWomen, a volunteer-led group dedicated to empowering women of all ages and abilities, for a scenic hike in Lewis, New York. This welcoming environment, supported by Champlain Area Trails, is perfect for building friendships and enhancing outdoor skills. 

Event Details:

  • Hike Location: Lewis, New York
  • Trail Distance: 5 miles
  • Difficulty Level: Moderately challenging (1,450 feet elevation gain)
  • Estimate Duration: Approximately 4 hours 

Hiking Experience:

The hike will be about 5 miles round trip, passing by a beaver pond and the remains of the observer's cabin. The trail continues for a quarter-mile hike to the summit, fire tower, and views of Vermont and the Champlain Valley.

  • Meeting Time: Arrive at the Observers trailhead by 8:45 AM for a prompt 9:00 AM start.

What to Bring: Prepare for the summer conditions by bringing the following essentials:

  • clothing appropriate for the sun and potentially bugs
  • shoes that can get wet and muddy 
  • Plenty of water
  • Snacks or a packed lunch
