Wet Cynotype at Ti Arts Downtown Gallery
Wet Cynotype at Ti Arts Downtown Gallery
Join us as we explore the uniquely unpredictable photographic technique known as Wet Cyanotype. Cyanotype is an alternative camera-less photography method that was developed in the mid-19th century. The process utilizes UV light from the sun and creates rich, blue, prints. You can create an image with digital negatives, drawings on transparencies or by simply placing objects on coated, dry, paper. Wet Cyanotypes are a more expressive technique and allow for serendipity to have a hand in the creation of images. You can work with dry or wet coated paper. After placing objects on the coated paper, spritz with water or vinegar and add kitchen items such as turmeric, tea, salt, soap bubbles etc. to create interesting marks and colors. Then expose to sunlight and watch the magic happen. Unlike the original Cyanotype chemical, today’s Cyanotype chemicals are non-toxic. Age 17+
