Join Adirondack History Museum this Saturday, September 20, for their final event of the season - People & Peaks:
Centennial Celebration of the First 46!
2025 marks the 100th anniversary of Herb Clark (#1), George Marshall (#2), and Robert (Bob) Marshall (#3) becoming the first individuals to climb all 46 Adirondack High Peaks over 4,000 feet. These three men’s amazing accomplishments and spirit of adventure have inspired many fellow hikers to follow in their footsteps. What began as a trickle in the 1930s through the 1960s, has become a steady stream of hikers, where close to 20,000 climbers have become a coveted 46er.
The program will include: introduction by Ron Konowitz; presentations by Doug Arnold, Peter Slocum, Sharp Swan, Suzanne Lance and L. John Van Norden; and music by Nocturnne (Natalie Kurgan).
Doors open at 9:00 am - see the exhibits and enjoy coffee & muffins
Program 10:00 am - music, speakers, and presentations
BBQ Picnic & Social - 1:30 pm - chicken, sides, cake,
and Lake Placid Brewery beer!
