"Marcella Sembrich: Queen of the Metropolitan"

The Lower Adirondack Regional Center for History
(LARCH) will offer a free program entitled “Marcella Sembrich: Queen of the
Metropolitan” on Friday, July 25 at 7 p.m. at the Hancock House, 6 Moses Circle,
Ticonderoga.
Marcella Sembrich was an internationally renowned opera singer of the late
19th and early 20th centuries. In 1924 she built an intimate lakeside teaching studio
in Bolton Landing. Each summer, vocal students from The Juilliard School and The
Curtis Institute of Music, where Sembrich was director of the voice programs, would
travel to Bolton to study with the famous singer.
The Sembrich’s Caleb Eick will provide an in-depth look at the soprano’s
meteoric rise to fame and her legacy on Lake George and beyond.
The program will be held in the lower-level program room of the Hancock
House Museum and is free, although reservations are recommended. Reservations
may be made by calling the Hancock House at 518-585-7868 or via e-mail to:
larchny@bridgepoint1.com.
