Yankee Doodle Comes to Town

Yankee Doodle Comes to Town is a fun and interactive introduction to colonial-era music and life, presented as part of Westport Library’s Celebrating the Nation: A Season of Heritage & Hope series. Join musicians from the Fifes & Drums of Fort Ticonderoga and presenter Victoria Cole, a former Westport/BVCS graduate, for an engaging program that explores the music, instruments, and traditions of the American Revolutionary period.

Designed for participants of all ages, this hands-on event offers a unique opportunity to learn how music shaped daily life in colonial America and inspired communities during the nation's founding. Through live demonstrations, stories, and audience participation, attendees will gain a deeper appreciation for the sounds and spirit of 1776 as America prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary.

The program will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Westport Library, 6 Harris Lane, Westport, NY. This event is free and open to the public.

Part of a series underwritten by the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation, Celebrating the Nation: A Season of Heritage & Hope brings together artists, musicians, and scholars to explore the experiences of people living in the Champlain Valley during the Revolutionary era while honoring America’s 250th Anniversary.
