If you’ve ever visited Ausable Chasm in the summer, you know it as the "Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks", a place of rugged stone walls, rushing waters, and lush green forests. But have you ever wondered what happens to this natural wonder once winter sets in?

This season, Ausable Chasm is transforming its iconic trails into a magical nighttime journey: the Ausable Chasm Festival of Lights.

Whether you’re planning a family outing, a date night, or a winter getaway in the Adirondacks, here is everything you need to know about this NEW enchanted winter experience.

Experience winter magic!

The Festival of Lights is a self-guided outdoor experience that covers one mile total along lighted wooded trails (a ½-mile illuminated route leading through themed areas, followed by a ½-mile return walk).

Your journey starts at the Ausable Chasm Welcome Center, where you’ll set off across the Bridge toward the historic Gatehouse. From there, you’ll step into four uniquely themed, illuminated worlds nestled along the wooded trail system. Each zone offers its own distinct ambiance, transforming the winter forest with glowing light installations, scenic backdrops, and plenty of photo-worthy moments.

To complete the experience, you can stop by the Winter Village to warm up with a hot cup of cocoa, listen to live music or carolers on select evenings, and take in the festive atmosphere.

• Days & Hours: Thursday through Sunday, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM (Last entry/ticket sold at 7:30 PM).

• Pricing:

  • Adults (Ages 13+): $19.95

  • Children (Ages 4–12): $14.95

  • Toddlers (Ages 3 & under): Free

• Tickets: Advance online purchase is strongly recommended as entry is timed and capacity is limited. Walk-up tickets at the Welcome Center are not guaranteed.

1. Dress for Adirondack winter weather: The trail is entirely outdoors. Layer up with warm clothes, hats, and gloves.
