With the weather reaching its all-time high for the summer, it’s easy to see there’s only one treat that satisfies a cool craving: ice cream! Luckily, Ticonderoga has plenty of satisfying options to choose from, including small local businesses and classic North Country shops!

Wind-chill Factory
To get the ultimate local small business experience, the Wind-Chill Factory is a MUST! Best known for their generously giant portions of quality soft-serve ice cream, the Wind-Chill Factory opened up their shop windows in 1996 and has been a Ticonderoga Area staple ever since!

The Wind-Chill showcases the classic soft ice-cream flavors of vanilla, chocolate, twist, and a vanilla frozen yogurt in a cone or dish all season long. Customers can keep their eye out for popular rotating flavors such as black raspberry, creamsicle, mint, coffee, peanut butter, and their highest requested maple! Customize your cone by getting your ice-cream dipped, or upgrade to a plain or dipped waffle cone. If you’re hungrier for more than a cone, the Wind-Chill also offers milkshakes, flurries, smoothies, floats, slushies, and an array of sundaes! No matter what you’re in the mood for, the Wind-Chill is sure to satisfy.

Since 1999, the Wind-Chill also lets you take treats home with you in the form of fabulous homemade ice-cream cakes.  These made to order cakes are uniquely crafted with fillings of your choosing, making these cakes perfect for any birthday, gathering or just because!

Stewart’s Shops

For the sought after hard-ice-cream fix, visit none other than Stewart’s Shops in Ticonderoga and Port Henry. Stewart’s Shops are convenience stores known for fresh, high quality hard ice cream. Upstate New York locals across the board love Stewart’s ice cream for their top-notch scoops and variety of unique flavors. Along with all the classics, Stewart’s offers a lot of fun flavors including nods to the area such as “Crumbs Along the Mohawk” which is a graham cracker flavored ice cream with graham cracker pieces and a caramel swirl. Another favorite, “Adirondack Bear Claw,” is vanilla ice cream with cashew crunch swirls — it's coming back this fall!

Stewart’s Shops serves up their ice cream any way you could imagine it, whether you’d like it scooped into a cake, waffle, or sugar cone at the counter.  The counter also offers an array of sundaes with a choice of delicious toppings, hand-packed pints, and milkshakes. In the freezer section of the store you can also pick up a quick pint or half gallon of their ice cream to go! Don’t forget to also grab a gallon of Stewart’s Shops “Best milk in New York state.”
