The Split Rock Wildway is a "wildlife corridor" between Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. Hiking the Wildway Overlook is a great way to view this area!

Getting there

The trailhead is on Brookfield Road in Essex, NY - just a quarter mile south of Reynolds Road.

By the numbers

  • Distance: 1.8 miles, round trip
  • Elevation gain: 500 feet

Hiking

A fairly easy climb rewards with incredible views of the valley, and some interpretive signage along the way.

Snowshoeing

This is considered an easy climb on snowshoes. Be sure to allocate extra time, as moving in the winter is much slower.
