Save the date! The Town of Essex is going all out for this year's Independence Day. Because this year's holiday coincides with America's Semiquincentennial and because of Essex's special location on the historic shores of Lake Champlain, town planners will seize this unparalleled opportunity for a charming small town to meet big-time history head-on.

The big blow-out event, Liberty on the Lake: America’s 250th Birthday, will feature dramatic weekend-long events and activities, so far including:

Join Champlain Area Trails for a free beginner snowshoeing lesson on Tuesday, February 17th, from 1 PM to 3 PM at Twin Valleys Outdoor Education Center! This exciting event offers a fantastic opportunity to learn the basics of snowshoeing in a friendly, supportive, and fun environment.

3rd Annual Essex Chili Cook-Off

Celebrate local flavor and community spirit at the 3rd Annual Essex Chili Cook-Off on Sunday, March 15th, from 1–4 PM at the Whallonsburg Grange Hall. This free, family-friendly event honors our community food growers and brings neighbors together for an afternoon of great food, music, and fun.
