Music, history, and the great outdoors
Lewis is a small Adirondack community with a rich cultural history and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. The town was once the summer home of Inez Milholland, an early crusader for women’s rights who is buried in Lewis and honored each year with an annual event. Lewis is also home to the world-renowned Meadowmount School of Music, which has offered an intensive summer program for accomplished string players and pianists since 1944. Distinguished alumni include Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell and Yo-Yo Ma, and the school hosts weekly public concerts throughout the summer.
For outdoor recreation, Magic Pines Campground offers campsites and amenities surrounded by scenic Adirondack landscapes, with easy access to a wide range of outdoor activities throughout the Lake Champlain Region.
