The largest Olympic-style winter sporting event in the northeast

The 2025 Empire State Winter Games is a multi-day sports event hosted in Lake Placid, New York, from January 30 - February 2, 2025. The Games will bring together athletes from across New York State and beyond to compete in over 22 winter sports events.

The Sports

Get ready for an exciting winter as the Empire State Winter Games unfold across various locations! In Lake Placid, NY, experience the thrill with events like Adaptive Bobsled, Ski Orienteering, Adaptive Biathlon, Alpine Skiing NYSSRA U16 & U19, Cross Country, Figure Skating, Girls U12 Hockey, Girls U14 Hockey, Long Track Speed Skating, Biathlon, Junior Bobsled, Luge, Short Track Speed Skating, and Skeleton.

The competition continues at Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, NY, with the thrills of Freestyle Moguls, Adaptive Alpine, and Ski and Snowboard Cross.

In Tupper Lake, witness thrilling contests in Sled Hockey, the Winter Sprint Triathlon, and Winter Bike Racing. Plus, don't miss the Snowshoe event in Paul Smiths.

You do not have to be a New York state resident to participate in the Empire State Games and most sports are open to all levels. 

Opening Ceremonies 

ESWG Opening Ceremony will return to the 1980 Arena at the Lake Placid Olympic Center on the evening of Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.

Athlete Village

Located in the Main Municipal Lot on Main Street, next to the Olympic Center, the Athlete Village is the place to be for family fun! Enjoy hot chocolate, s’mores, sports activities, athlete interviews, a photo booth, and more!
