Two local artists, Becky Johnson and Danae Fasano Dehne, embrace Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese aesthetic, in their work, creating reclaimed wood art and ceramics that highlight the beauty of imperfect, textural, and rustic materials.

A Guided Tour of Fort Ticonderoga's Liberty Hill

In July 1776, Continental soldiers began digging in at Ticonderoga as they prepared to stem a British counterattack. On the Heights of Carillon, a brigade of Pennsylvanians set up camp on the site of the bloodiest battle of the 18th century. Reinforcing the “old French lines” Americans believed history might repeat itself as they prepared for another British attack. Renaming the position “Liberty Hill,” the Continentals transformed the area, strengthening the fortifications and establishing a dense hut camp.

Discover how Americans recycled popular melodies, adding political and patriotic lyrics as a struggle for rights as British subjects became a fight to be recognized among the nations of the world in 1776.
