A long table harvest dinner the night before the festival is a new feature this year. The ingredients are being farm grown specifically for this meal and documented every step of the way to tell the story of how and where our food is produced, how much work is involved, and that everything needed to create a meal is now grown locally. Farm demonstrations, too. Check out the cider press with Andy Wekin; learn how to bake with ancient grains, cultivate gourmet mushrooms, harvest and store seeds, start out with bees, process and spin flax, make soap with local herbs & oils.

What a great time we had last year!
Talk about fun! Work up an appetite with a hike in the Lake Champlain Region, then celebrate the Adirondack harvest with music and locally produced food at the Essex County Fairgrounds in Westport, N.Y. On Saturday, there are two pre-dinner options: Spend the day hiking or learn about life on the farm with an afternoon of demonstrations, a movie screening, and a Q & A with filmmaker Ben Stechschulte.
