Gravel cycling in the LCR

The Lake Champlain Region is brimming with all sorts of cycling trails; on the road, off the road, even on gravel! Gravel cycling is the popular choice for many on their biking journeys, blending the fun of on and off roading, with the needed tact to maneuver new terrain. Experience gravel trails that offer their own technical challenges, filled with the beautiful wide-open landscapes of the Lake Champlain Region. Pedal through expansive wilderness, steep inclines, and picturesque scenes that reward every level of cyclist.

Perfect for every level

The Lake Champlain Region offers variations of multiple trails, offering a stunning ride for the experts and beginners alike. For beginner, intermediate, and experienced riders, the Lewis gravel route is the perfect way to introduce yourself to gravel cycling in the region. This is a good long loop that is always continually changing. The ride bounces between unpaved and paved surfaces, climbs and descents, and forests and fields, offering the best views and multiple different environments of the LCR. For intermediate and experienced riders, the Penfield loop offers up a unique challenge, right at the birthplace of modern electricity! Start at the Penfield Homestead Museum and make your way across the region.
