The Split Rock Wild Forest is known for having timber rattlesnakes and can often be seen sunning themselves at lookout and along the trail. It is highly advisable that your pets stay on a leash and to never approach or corner a timber rattlesnake. Negative encounters with humans are not likely as they are easily spooked. If you or your pet has been bit, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible.
