Jabe and Little Jabe Ponds

How to get there

From the Ticonderoga traffic circle, head south on Route 9N. Continue for 1.5 miles past the intersection of Route 9N and Route 3 and locate Split Rock Road on the right. Follow Split Rock Road, which turns into Battle Hill Road, continue up the hill and you'll see Jabe Pond Road on the left. This is a dirt road that is 1-mile long and very rough, so high clearance is recommended.

Trail Description

From the start of Jabe Pond Road walk slightly downhill before climbing up a couple hills to the parking area for Jabe Pond. This road walk is an easy 1 mile. Jabe Pond is just over the rise in a couple hundred feet. There are nice trails along each side of the pond with camping areas along the way.

To reach Little Jabe Pond, follow the trail to the right 0.3 mile to the shore. This side spur is an easy hike along a well graded path.

While this is not an all-day adventure, consider combining this hike with a visit to Pole Pond Preserve.
