Every year, as winter in the Lake Champlain Region fades, we get a little giddy. Daylight stretches further into the evening, birds break out in song, and ahhh the warmth of the sun. It feeds the land and makes us eager to be outside, having fun, all the time. The greenery of spring and summer makes legendary vistas come to life and farms flourish with amazing flavor. Everywhere you turn amid our open spaces and legendary places, there's a sweet treat, cool hike, or fascinating historic site ready for you to savor.
Open spaces
With every season our landscape transforms and displays a character all its own. As you ride along winding country roads, you'll find yourself wondering what is around the next corner. It might be a quaint small town, a welcoming farm store, or a mountain with an awesome hiking trail offering sweeping lake views. Warm weather means outdoor adventures are on the menu and there is no shortage of trails! Birders flock to the lakeshore to search for rare migrants at our birding hot spots, while hikers love the CATS trail system. The system includes more than 40 miles of trail, many of which are short, easy routes to spectacular vistas of Lake Champlain to the east and the impressive Adirondack High Peaks to the west. Legendary places
Lake Champlain and the towns along the shore have a long, fascinating history. This is a place that has seen revolutionary battles, fights for freedom, and abolitionists. It quite literally helped shape the creation of the United States. There's even a pre-historic lake monster! The scenery at these locations, including forts and museums, is simply gorgeous and full of interactive fun. It's a great way to be active but also take your time and relax a little!
