2016 TOP 3 BLOGS IN REVIEW
We scoured our blogs for the most popular, most informative, and just downright funniest pieces from the past year. In case you missed them when they were originally published, here are our top three picks from the Lake Champlain's Adirondack Coast. Enjoy!
3) The Adirondack lean-to
If you've ever hiked in the Adirondack wilderness and experienced a pop-up storm along the way, I suspect you were happy to stumble across a remote rustic shelter welcoming you in from the rain. It is speculated that the Adirondack lean-to came into existence in the early 1800s along with the growing popularity of regional outdoor guides. Ever wonder how those lean-tos get into the wilderness and who takes care of them?
2) Southern taste, northern coast
Any carnivore who appreciates slow-cooked, flavorful meat surely needs to put this Ticonderoga restaurant on their must-visit list. Read on and you'll be craving some Adirondack southern BBQ for lunch!
1) Icy Ausable Chasm adventure
It’s a chasm. It’s right there in the name, "Ausable Chasm." I’ve seen chasms before in other parts of the country, and I’ve toured chasms. They’re usually pretty cool but more or less the same. I’ve driven by this particular one on a number of occasions and have always been impressed with the view of Rainbow Falls from the bridge. But, until last week, I now shamefully admit I had never actually stopped at Ausable Chasm. I will now also eat a big helping of my words on the sameness of all chasms... Grab your micro-spikes and get ready to explore the chasm in winter!
