Tuesday Nights at the Museum

The Adirondack History Center Museum offers to keep your Tuesdays evenings filled all summer with the Elizabeth HW Lawrence Summer Lecture Series.

The series begins July 9th at 7:00 PM with naturalist David Thomas Train's lecture Fire Towers in the Adirondacks.  He will cover the history and current fire tower issues of removal, retention and restoration.
 
Continue to mark your calendars for the following Tuesday night lectures, which in conjunction with the Civil War Sesquicentennial, will give that era a focus:
 
July 16th:  Andy Buchanan presents an overview of the Civil War
July 23rd: Morris Glenn presents On the Trail of the USS Monitor
July 30th:  Sharp Swan speaks on the Adirondack Regiment/118th New York Volunteers of the Civil War
August 6th: Brent Vosburg will present Company H and the New York 5th Calvary Regiment
August 13th: Carol Blakeslee-Collin will present Vignettes of the Home Front in the Civil War
August 20th will feature a roundtable discussion on the Civil War with historians, researchers and enthusiasts sharing views, information, and historical facts.
August 27th will conclude the series with Voices of the Civil War, a program of readings of Civil War letters and diaries.
 
Make your plans now.  All programs begin at 7:00 PM and reservations are recommended.  The price per lecture is $5.00 for Museum Members, $8.00 for non-members, and $30.00 for the full series. The Human Face of the Adirondacks in the Civil War

As an added bonus, the museum will remain open until 7:00 on lecture nights. Be sure to arrive  early allowing yourself time to view their exhibits The Human Face of the Adirondacks in the Civil War, the Worked/Wild exhibit and the updated Fire Tower exhibit; all included with the purchase of the lecture ticket!
