How to get there
From the intersection of Route 9N and Route 22 in Westport follow Route 22 north. Continue for 0.4 miles to Lakeshore Road on the right and follow here. Continue for 2.5 miles to Halds Road on the left. Follow Halds Road for just under 1-mile to the trailhead on the right.
Coon is on what is called the Coon Mountain Preserve which is owned by The Nature Conservancy. From the trailhead you will start climbing almost immediately. The trail never gets too steep but does have a moderate and continual climb. One short section may reach the steep category as it passes through a rocky section where footing is a bit harder. This is a perfect family outing for the entire family and if you are in the area it should not be missed. The views out over Lake Champlain and into the Green Mountains of Vermont are amazing.
