Ausable Chasm

The oldest natural attraction in the United States (est. 1870), the sites of the chasm are breathtaking. Formed of sandstone that is 500 million years old from a time geologists call the Cambrian period.

View the famous Elephants Head and Rainbow Falls and take a family float tour through the Grand Flume and Whirlpool Basin. Visitors enjoy walking along towering cliffs and through a primeval forest, peering into the gorge and floating the legendary waters of the Ausable River. Float tours via raft or tube, nighttime lantern tours, and new adventure tours (via ferrata course, rappelling, and rock climbing). There is a campground with cabins and motel onsite.
