How to get there
From the intersection of Route 9 and Route 9N in Keeseville follow Route 9 south for 7.5 miles to the trailhead on the right.
This is the most popular route up the mountain, but also the shortest and steepest. From the trailhead you will start climbing immediately on a moderate trail. The footing of the trail is quite rocky and some of the rocks tend to be very slippery. The trail soon begins to get much steeper as it approached a wall of rock. The trail swings around to the left and up to the top of the wall with outstanding views. From here the trail remains fairly steep to the intersection with the truck trail that comes in on the left. Follow right as it moderately approaches the summit and the fire tower. Outstanding views can be had from the ground floor as well as the cab of the tower.
