Winter Farmers Market

Fresh from the Lake Champlain Region

We can’t all have our own farms, so luckily our Adirondack Coast farmers are willing to share!

All about local

This winter the Westport Heritage House is hosting a family-friendly indoor activity for all ages. A monthly farmers market featuring 18+ participants will be held from 10am to 2pm on the last Saturday of each month beginning on January 28.

We got the scoop on what to expect at the region's newest not-to-miss event from organizer, Curdie Gardner. Here are some highlights:

Farm fresh

Here’s a small sampling of the farms that will be participating and the various items they’ll have available:

  • Harvest Hill Farm of Willsboro will have a wonderful selection of honey, homemade lip balms, and soaps.
  • Willow Wood Farm from Ticonderoga will be on hand with pork products and Dexter beef.
  • Full and By Farm will be offering up their pasture-raised chicken as well as cornmeal and flour.
  • Triple Green Jade Farm which is located in the Willsboro area will be bringing their artisans breads.
  • North Country Creamery in Keeseville will tempt you with their  feta cheese spread and homemade crackers! This farm also makes yogurts of different flavors, cream cheese, a fresh farmer’s cheese, and a whole line of aged sharp cheeses. Their cows are 100% grassfed, non GMO, and Animal Welfare Approved Fresh Milk.

Stay Awhile

Lunch will be served up by Dacy Meadows Farm from Westport. With a focus on farm-to-table offerings, they’ll have homemade meat pies, farm fresh eggs, corn chowder, and quiche on hand. They’ll also have cookies and pie to satisfy your sweet tooth as you continue your shopping spree.

Of course, there will be must-have items like maple syrup, jams, jellies. And, although it’s not veggie season, there will be various root crops that have been stored just for winter sales.

Arts, crafts, local specialities

  • Little Hills Farm from the Westport area will have an array of homegrown products available as well as homemade candles, soaps, and wool products.
  • There will also be informative gardening books, written by JoAnn Gardner of Westport. A local author, JoAnn has written on subjects ranging from growing your own small fruits to favorite recipes, to tending heirloom perennials. She’ll also have herb seasonings and flower seeds grown locally  in Westport.

Along with all the many farm products you can expect a nice array of arts, crafts, and specialty items including handmade knitted items, bookmarks and scarves made from flax, soy candles, letter press cards, and original paintings by local artist Clark Davidson of Keeseville.

Shop the winter market!

The first winter market is January 28 from 10am to 2pm. There will subsequent markets in February, March, and April all held on the last Saturday of the month from 10am to 2pm.
